Embassy of Bolivia
The Plurinational State of Bolivia is a democratic, plurinational, and multilingual country in the heart of South America. In 2025, Bolivia is celebrating its bicentennial. This date marks the beginning of the country’s independence, which started with the Chuquisaca Revolution on May 25, 1809, and culminated in its liberation in 1825.
Bolivia is among the fifteen countries with the greatest biodiversity in the world. Although it represents only 0.2% of the world’s surface, it is home to around 40% of the world’s biological diversity, with 12 ecoregions that can be subdivided into 23 sub-ecoregions.
National exports include, among others, natural gas, silver, zinc, lead, tin, gold, quinoa, soybeans, lithium carbonate, and potassium chloride. Sales have reached almost 14 billion dollars, attaining record levels. Despite the unprecedented international crises affecting the entire world, Bolivia has the lowest inflation rate in the region and one of the fastest-growing economies in South America.
The diverse landscapes, cultures, and climates of Bolivia range from high plateaus and snow-capped mountains as tall as 6,500 meters to low-lying wetlands and forests reaching the Amazon at just 130 meters above sea level.
Bolivia is known for its stunning natural beauty, delicious food, and remarkable tourist destinations such as Rurrenabaque, Madidi – Pampas, Los Yungas, the Andes Mountains, Salar de Uyuni, Laguna de Colores, Lake Titicaca, Sucre and Potosí, the Tarija Wine Route, the Jesuit Missions, among others, as well as community-based tourism known as “Turismo Comunitario.”
The Embassy of Bolivia warmly invites you to the Embassy Festival to enjoy the flavors and spirit of Bolivia — its gastronomy, the high-altitude wines (“Vinos de Altura”), and traditional dances performed by the groups “Bolivia Minka” and “Bolivia Unida.”
Our Cultural Democratic Revolution includes among its most important milestones the re-founding of Bolivia as a Plurinational State, moving forward toward Living Well (“Vivir Bien”) for all.
Bolivia is waiting for you.
