Awarded 1st place in the Leopold Bellan International Competition (Paris) and considered
ambassadors of Brazilian music by the German press (Deutsche Welle Brazil), the young
Bahian instrumentalists and composers Morgana Moreno (flute) and Marcelo Rosário
(guitar), are guaranteed to bring you a great musical experience of Brazilian music. On this
festival they will present parts of their new show called “Nascente”
The word “Nascente” means the place where a watercourse begins, or figuratively, where
anything originates. It also symbolises the return of the duo to Salvador, the capital of Bahia,
where both artists once started their musical life. Their new show is composed of MPB
rereadings, choros and own compositions, which all reveal the musical richness of Brazil.
In an intimate, yet inclusive dialogue between flute and guitar the musicians give visibility to
the essence of their instruments and the artistic and musical affinity of both, who have been
working together for over 10 years.
The audience will be treated to high standing interpretations of choros from composers such
as Jacob do Bandolim, MPB compositions such as Saudade da Bahia by Caymmi and
Travessia by Milton Nascimento, and the duo’s own compositions such as “Bon Voyage”,
which is part of their first album, “Baião” – awarded Best Instrumental Music at the Festival
da Educadora 2014.
Proudly presented in co-operation with the Embassy of Brazil
