FRIDAY NIGHT 6 SEPTEMBER AT THE EMBASSY FESTIVAL

When we started the Embassy Festival, we initially focused solely on the Saturday. ‘But why not start on the Friday Night?’, we asked ourselves a couple of years ago. So we tried that out and it exceeded all our wildest dreams. It turned out to be a fantastic, warm and fun way to kick off the festival. So we’re doing it again this year! In a smaller setting, we’ll have two stages filled with exciting music from all corners of the world, with the same enthusiasm as we’ve created on the Saturday.

We’ll have a few food trucks to still your hunger and a bar that’ll tackle your thirst.  We’ve got acts from Ghana, Mexico, Estonia, Haiti, the UK and several other fantastic countries. So, who will be performing?

Main Stage

17.30-18.00 PAUL BEAUBRUN

His album ‘Vilnerab’ soared directly to #1 on iTunes and his incredible Roots/Blues sound has mesmerised audiences all over the world. Haitian-born Paul Beaubrun will bring you a smooth mélange of English, Creole and French musical masterpieces that’ll tickle your senses.

18.30 – 19.15 SON DE AQUI

Bringing with them their Mexican heritage is Son de Aquí! This Latin-band from Mexico City have incorporated the traditional sounds of Cuba, Mexico and Colombia and seasoned it a little with some reggae and hip-hop flavors. Dancing shoes are advised.

19.45 – 20.30 GITA BUHARI

Ghanaian singer Gita Buhari’s voice oozes soul and the dreamy, rhythmic and melancholic sounds created by her band, will leave you longing for more and more. Synths, 808’s and an almost hypnotic experience await.

21.00 – 22.00 LONDON AFROBEAT COLLECTIVE

It’s a little bit like magic. The way the London Afrobeat Collective (LAC) can make even the stiffest limbs move as though they’re flexible like a rubber band. We invite you to grab your calendars, draw a bright red heart on Friday the 6th of September and make no other plans than to feel their pounding rhythms, soaring melodies and hypnotic grooves from the tip of your head all the way to your toes.

22.30 – 23.15 TRUE VIBENATION

These multi-instrumentalists from Australia will make the Lange Voorhout vibrate long after the end of their show. A crafted sound described as ‘Afro Bounce’ will be projected to the audience as their African heritage shines through. Get ready for some big bass, beats, horns and a whole lot of positive vibes.

Earlier in the summer we announced the performance of Cuneyt Sepetci. Unfortunately, his has appearance has been canceled. Thankfully, we’ve found a fantastic replacement in True Vibenation.

LOCATION: Lange Voorhout, The Hague. A smaller more intimate setting compared to the Saturday, just accross from Diligentia Theatre.

TIME: 17.00 – 23.30

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT: Two fantastic stages with performances, a few food trucks, a bar and lots of fun.

Container Stage

17.10 – 17.25 REYOG PARADE

With fantastic costumes and a lot of noise, we proudly announce the appearance of the Reyog Ponorogo Street Parade from Indonesia! On Friday night they will give you a preview of what a Reyog parade looks like.

19.15-19.45 TUULETÜTRED

Tuuletütred is an all-female Estonian dance group based in Holland. More than 20 local Estonians practice and perform in this dance formation. Traditionally, Estonians grow up with folk music and folk dance from a very young age and carry the tradition close to their hearts. With their performance they hope to share the passion and enjoyment that they experience from this.

19.45 – 23.30 SILENT DISCO

Dance and sing like nobody can hear you. Well they can, they just can’t hear the music. That’s right, we’ll have a Silent Disco at the Embassy Festival on Friday evening. Naturally, to stay in line with the vibe of the festival, a lot of world music will be played, as well as other music that will get you moving and singing like there’s no tomorrow. So bring all your friends and put on those headphones!
