FRIDAY EVENING 31 AUGUST
The 6th edition of the EMBASSY FESTIVAL will commence on Friday evening 31 august at 5pm in front of Diligentia on a stage at the Lange Voorhout. Expect a diverse and colourful program with Folk Road Show (AUS/CAN/NLD) and Témé Tan (BEL/COD), a few surprise acts and more acts that we’ll announce in the near future. Naturally, excellent food and drinks options will also be available.
At the same time UIT FESTIVAL DEN HAAG will kick-off with the Cultuurankers opening their doors. Theatres and libraries will also bring culture to their own neighbourhoods. Every Cultuuranker will have their own program with connecting elements such as Ed Struijlaart, Farbod and Lukic, who will make appearances in several of these Cultuurankers. Paard will also open their doors on the first evening of UIT Festival with Paard van Stal. The diverse lineup presents the upcoming season and offers a sneak preview as to what visitors can expect at Paard in the new season.
SATURDAY 1 SEPTEMBER
On Saturday 1 September at noon, the EMBASSY FESTIVAL will fully kick-off at the Lange Voorhout. The cultural world trip that this festival offers, fits in seamlessly with the international City of The Hague. One out of three inhabitants have roots abroad, making it the city that brings the world together. The Hague is also the embassy city of the Netherlands. By collaborating with the embassies, the Embassy Festival can showcase the cultural richness of around 60 countries at the Lange Voorhout. The result of this is a colourful festival program with lots of dance and music: the universal language that ties us all together.
There is a Contemporary Stage, Classical Stage, Creative Arena (world-mix of dance, music and theater), a Container Stage (program includes acts from the cultural institutions) and a Kids Compound for our youngest visitors. The International Market forms the connecting link between the several stages. Visitors of the market will delight their taste buds with the widely available traditional foods and drinks that have been brought in from all corners of the world.
The Embassy Festival will flow into the second day of UIT FESTIVAL DEN HAAG at 8pm. The heart of the UIT Nacht will be at the Lange Voorhout. Several venues and theatres from the city centre of The Hague will join the festivities. There’s an outdoor cinema with the fairytale-like La La Land at Filmhuis Den Haag, an old skool bingo night at Theater aan het Spui, a klezmerfest with L’Chaim on the festivalstage at the Lange Voorhout, an impressive dance program in Korzo and much more. The night will be concluded with Clubhopping; Clubs in The Hague will (free of charge) open their doors so you can dance and celebrate the weekend until the sun rises. This is your chance to discover the diverse and exciting nightlife of The Hague.
SUNDAY 2 SEPTEMBER
On Sunday 2 September the afternoon will mark the third day of UIT FESTIVAL DEN HAAG. On the Culture Market at the Lange Voorhout, nearly 100 cultural institutions will present themselves to the visitors. Stroll along one of the most beautiful areas in The Hague, enjoy great food and drinks, get your discounted tickets at the theatres and see countless shows on the stages and venues such as The Dutch Don’t Dance Division with Alice in Winter Wonderland, the Koninklijke Schouwburg with Bas Haring and Janne Schra and Het Atrium with roller skate demos and Quadsk8. New this year is the Ooievaarsnest Stage. The Cultuurschakel and the Ooievaarspas have come together to showcase a vast selection of cultural activities, paying special attention to amateur artists. There will be ready-to-use routes put together for anyone feeling a little overwhelmed by the vast amount of activities programmed. Cultural newbies, dance enthusiasts, hip-hop fanatics and six-year-old Woezel and Pip fans, and everyone in between, will find something to their liking. The routes are free of charge and guide everyone to the delightful events that are offered at UIT Festival.
