Borscht is often considered the pillar of Ukrainian cuisine. This famous soup is served in every corner of the country and has been known since ancient times. The traditional Ukrainian borscht is made from meat or bone stock, sautéed vegetables and beetroot as one of the main ingredients, which gives the soup its deep ruby color and distinctive taste. In the Old Slavonic tongue beet was called “borsch”. The borscht has a rich historical past and is marked by regional peculiarities of cooking.
