About

The Philippines love to perform and will demonstrate this at this years Embassy Festival with not one, but two different acts! Tinikling, a traditional folk dance, imitates the movement of tikling birds. Dancers imitate the tikling bird’s legendary grace and speed by skillfully maneuvering between large bamboo poles. There will also be music. Visitors will be able to hear Salidumay, a indigenous folk song. Traditionally, young women express acceptance or rejection of a man’s courting with this song full of sweet melodies, sung in local dialect.
